Are Radar Detectors and Laser Jammers Legal?
One of the main questions people have regarding radar detectors and laser jammers is whether or no they are legal. This depends on where you live and drive your vehicle. Please note that while we attempt to provide the most accurate, up-to-date information on this page, we do not guarantee accuracy or hold any responsibility for the information provided. We strongly suggest that you check into the legality of laser jammers and radar detectors independently.
First of all, it is important to note that radar jammers (or radar scramblers) are illegal in all 50 US states as well as all Canadian provinces and most other countries. These devices emit radio waves and this are controlled by FCC regulations in the United States. Chances are that no matter where you live radar jammers are illegal to both sell and use.
The Legality of Radar Detectors
Laser jammers and radar detectors are governed by individual states and provinces.
In Canada
Radar detectors are only LEGAL in British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan.
In the United States
At this point in time, radar detectors are LEGAL in all US states, with the exception of Virginia and D.C. Radar detectors are also illegal in commercial vehicles weighing over 10,000 pounds.

Laser jammers are only LEGAL in British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan.
In the United States
At this point in time, laser jammers are LEGAL in all US states, with the exception of California, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Utah, Virginia and D.C.
Remember, even in states and provinces where laser jammers are prohibited, the Blinder line of products can be used for parking assistance and as garage door openers.
